Forgot your password? Reset it yourself

Published · 1 min read

The Forgot your password page, with a field for the email address on the account.

You can now reset a forgotten password yourself, straight from the sign-in page. All it takes is the email address on your account.

Three steps

  • On the sign-in page, press Forgot your password?
  • Enter the email address on your account and send the form.
  • Open the email from us, follow the link, and choose a new password.

Each link works once, for one hour. Asking again replaces any earlier link, so only the newest one counts.

The page answers the same way whether or not an address has an account, so it cannot be used to find out who has signed up. There is also a limit on how many links can be requested in an hour.

After the reset

Setting a new password signs your account out on every device and lifts a lockout from too many failed sign-ins. It also confirms the email address on your reader account. We send a short email saying the password changed, so you would hear about a reset you did not ask for.

For studio staff

The Studio Desk sign-in has the same link. Owners and administrators still enter the code from their authenticator app after a reset, as they always have: two-step sign-in is required for those roles. Reader accounts do not use it.

Locked out? Start on the Forgot your password? page.
